Wider Opening in June and staffing for September

St Matthew’s CE School. Little Lever

Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to let you know about our plans for the coming weeks and about our staffing for September. It is difficult to write with certainty about things that will happen in the coming days , let alone in the coming months. As you know the Government has decided that children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 should be invited to start back at school when the school is in a position to accept them. As yet we have no further information on the Government’s plans for other year groups. I am sure we will find out at the same time that you do.

Wider Opening 8th June 2020
We are planning a wider reopening from the 8th June when we will welcome Reception and Year 1 back.  The Key Worker children continue to attend as they have done over the past few months.  On their return the children will be placed into groups of no more than 15 children. We are calling these groups our ‘bubbles’.  Children in Reception and Year 1 will receive a text letting them know the name of their bubble and which teacher they will be with.
Information will be posted on the school website later today about ways to prepare your child for  returning to school, start times, drop off and pick up arrangements and other key information.

Towards the end of the week we are hoping to be able to share a booklet on the class blog which will show the children what to expect. There will be lots of pictures in this so you can talk about what school might be like on return.

Home Learning . Tuesday 9th June
Home Learning Packs will be delivered to those children not in school. These will be very similar to those you have had before and Home Learning will continue in a very similar way to now.

Reception: Purple Mash – set weekly .    Not Education City
Year 1:        Purple Mash – set weekly      Not Education City
Year 2:        Purple Mash – set weekly      Not Education City
Year 3:        Purple Mash – set weekly. LBQ – Monday , Wednesday and Friday . TT Rockstars
Year 4:        Purple Mash – set weekly. LBQ – Monday , Wednesday and Friday . TT Rockstars
Year 5:        Purple Mash and Mathletic – set weekly. LBQ – Monday , Wednesday and Friday .  TT Rockstars
Year 6:        Purple Mash and Mathletic – set weekly. LBQ – Monday , Wednesday and Friday .  TT Rockstars

The home learning packs will have more details of your topic. However, with most staff now working in school Mrs Clemmett will be leading on home learning. Please continue to use if you have any questions about homework. The class blogs continue to be a great way to show what you have done at home and for us to share with you. It may take a little longer for posts to be approved.

Wider Opening 15th June
If all goes to plan then we are hoping to invite Year 6 back from the 15th June.  We will be in touch early next week.

September 2020
As yet we don’t know what September will ‘look like’ in school and how near to ‘normal’ school will be but we do have some news. We have already told you that Mr Harding is leaving at the end of the year. Miss Barnes is also leaving us. She is taking up a new post in Liverpool. We are so sad that she is leaving us but wish her well in her new job. This does mean that some of the teachers will be changing year groups.

Reception : Mrs Phillips
Year 1 : Miss Magill
Year 2 : Miss Nuttall
Year 3 : Mrs Hinks
Year 4: Mrs Wyatt
Year 5 : Mr Robertson
Year 6 : Mrs Clemmett

We are exploring ways of the children meeting their new class teachers and we will let you know about this in the next two weeks.

Many Thanks

Mrs Ryding
